Hi,

After having some hesitation, pinging under load and now starting problems after having throttle open for long periods (ie motorway), I've been suspecting EGR valve on Corsa B 1.2 16V (X12XE).

However, before I jump in with both feet and take the EGR off to see if I can clean it, I want to know if cleaning can be effectively done. I've read conflicting advice on this - if it's not possible to clean then I'll just bite the bullet and buy a brand spanking new one but obviously I would rather save a couple of quid if I can.

Any experiences/advice on this would be much appreciated

Thanks

Dan

Dan, past experiences with EGR valve problems, whether they are on a Jaguar, VW or a Ford pickup, is not that they are dirty, it's more a valve seating problem from normal wear. You can try cleaning it, you have nothing to lose, but if the problem is indeed the EGR, you will probably end up replacing it. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies. I probably will have a go at cleaning it then. Can't make it any worse.

These EGR valves seem to cause more problems than they're worth - a google search returns loads of related problems.

Hmmmmm they have to do with fuel deposits and not part by itself
So a clean spray or a WD40 in case of stuck will do the job
