1999 Vauxhall Corsa car bogs when i try to rev it

hi there i have a problem with my vauxhall corsa b 1.0 12v. the problem is when i start my car it idles normal then picks up revs for a second then idles normal and pics up revs again the engine management light is on and if i try to rev my car it bogs and it struggles to pick up revs. before this happend the engine management light came on and the car lost power it would'nt pick up speed and stayed at 60mph without getting faster. then the engine management light went off and the car ran fine. please help.
