hi, i have a 1.6 16v astra esate.
i forgot to top up the antifreeze & during the cold weather all the water froze in the car. i went to start it & it broke the water pump & put a hole in the radiator. replaced both but when i replaced the water pump oil came out. checked the dipstick for the oil & it was empty. haven't started the car, is it something drastic or something simple like head gasket.

could be a blown headgasket or a cracked head/block .. replace coolant and oil to correct levels and run vehicle and check for leaks ... pressure test cooling sytem and compression test cylinders !

replaced coolants.
ran it for a while & it started sounding tappity
water bottle is full of oil & not much oil left in engine according to dipstick (did this after car cooled down)
small amount of white smoke coming out of exhaust & also noticed this was full of oil
also noticed a small leak at top of head leaking down to manifold cover
