For installation of the vapor canister vent solenoid, what type of o-ring lubricant should be used? Silicone-based, PTFE-based, etc? MERPOL O-Ring Seal Lubricant ESE-M99B144-B is what Ford specifies to use, but I've not been able to find that for sale and can't find much information about it searching online.

The Ford stuff is an old lubricant spec. I use synthetic lube on them. Silicone grease would work as does Super Lube O-Ring lube (or just the standard Super Lube). It just has to let it slip. Just don't use a common petroleum-based lube, that can damage the O-Ring.

Thank you for responding so quickly. So, would dielectric/spark plug boot grease be suitable to use?

That is usually petroleum based, not what I would want on an Oring. Some parts stores have small packets of silicone grease on the counter, used for brake slide pins.
