I understand there are two areas under the valve cover that you need to put two dabs of silicone when camshaft area meets the flat cylinder head with a special RTV. Toyotas sealant is very expensive and was wondering if you could provide an oil resistant equivalent compound that would do the same thing. Don't understand why valve cover gasket would not seal it by itself. It looks like maybe a Permatex or some other sealant would do them sand thing. Would you have a name and part #. Thanks

Hello, there are 2 small areas where you can just use RTV gasket sealant. It's on the 2 corners on the cylinder head. I'll post a diagram that shows exactly where. But I use high temperature resistant RTV gasket sealant. If you ask at AutoZone they will know what you need. Give me a minute to post the diagram for you.

It's added at these 2 locations because that's where the timing cover meets the cylinder head. You don't need to add a lot, just enough to cover that small location and then put the valve cover with its gasket installed on it already. There is a part number in the 2nd diagram, buts it's the RTV sealant in a black tube that's for high heat. And then there's the torque specs for the bolts and the torque pattern. If you have the spark plugs out, just don't over tighten them when re-installing them.
