using spacers for rims

I have four new tires and rims for my car. problem is that the tires on car right now are low profile, and size fifteen. The new tires are size sixteen. The new rims do not fit because of an eighth of an inch difference in the size of the hole that goes through the rim onto the car. My boy friend says that he can put on spacers that will make the rims fit on my car. Is this possible? Safe? and, cause problems with control?

No, not for a problem like that. That would require more than just a shim spacer. It would require an adapter that would move the wheel position at least past the end of the studs which would weaken everything and position the tires too far out.
You really need to use the correct size tires and wheels for safety purposes.

Spacers are a very bad solution. They will push the tires out enough that they will likely hit the fenders and rub on turns. They also will put stress on the suspension because they will act like a lever and can damage the suspension. The better solution is to buy the proper rims OR just replace the tires with new ones.
