I have noticed lately that there is an unusual sound coming from under the hood. You can hear it when the car is idling, it is harder to hear when the car is driving. I am trying to get an idea of what it might be, to see if it's something I know how to tackle myself. I will add a video to this, hopefully you are able to hear some of the sound. To me it is sort of a metallic like noise, but I find it hard to explain.

Good evening.

Please post a video with sound so we can hear it. That will help us a lot in trying to help you.

I thought I uploaded my video the first time, I guess it did not go through. Should be visible now!

Yep, that worked.

It is kind of vague but it sounds like it is under the front cover, like a water pump or some kind of bearing on something being driven by the engine.

remove the serpentine belt and see if the noise is still present.

Hi Roy,

Thanks for responding! Yes, I noticed the noise wasn't as loud when I took that video as it normally can be, but it's still there for sure. Question for you, is it safe to start the vehicle with the serpentine belt removed? And if so, how long can I safely have it run so I can listen for the noise?
