Can you help me identify this under dash piece?

Can you do a couple things that will help? First, get a couple different angle pictures of it? Next, can you see if there are wires running to it from behind the component or just look under the dash?
Did you buy this vehicle new or did you just purchase it?
Lastly it appears to be held in place by two screws. Can you confirm this?
If it is then more than likely this was added by someone and may be a switch for disabling a system like lights or even the ignition. Sometimes people install these types of things to prevent people from stealing the vehicle.
It doesn't appear to be factory installed but seeing it will surely help with this.
