Type of small battery to fit my car

This discussion can get very lengthy because as you have found the options are endless. Clearly, you could go to the dealer and get the exact battery that came from the factory but they are normally a little more pricey but very good quality.

To define the terms you are seeing the 96R, 35, 37A, etc, this is the group size of the battery. Depending on the manufacturer of the battery this could be different.

CCA is Cold Cranking Amps. Meaning this is the amperage output of the battery when cold. Each vehicle has a minimum amount of CCA in order to start the vehicle according to Ford. If you live in a cold climate then you would want to lean towards the higher amount of CCAs.

If it were me, I would replace the battery with a minimum of a 620 CCA battery that fits your vehicle. All you need to do is go to one of the parts stores websites and put in your vehicle and they will give you compatible batteries. Then just select the one that is 620 or higher if you want.

I actually show your VIN needing a 96 or 96R. Again, you can select the different options of cold cranking amps, 500 or 590. Also, the difference is 18 month replacement warranty or 36 month.

Just to sum up you have three options according to Ford. A 500 CCA battery with an 18 month replacement warranty and 2 590 CCA options. One with an 18 month replacement warranty and one with a 36 month.
