Turns over but won"t start.

I first noticed a loss of power in the days before it died. Acceleration was WAY lower than usual and the rpm would jump in between 500 and 1000 when idling. Second gear in particular would be seriously jumpy while trying to accelerate. Then last night I tried to start and it would just keep turning over without starting. What's wrong with my car :(
