Shut off while driving, engine cranks but does not start

This sounds like a crankshaft angle sensor has gone out. When you turn the key to the on position without cranking the engine over can you hear the fuel pump run in the tank for 5 seconds?

Well, before we changed the fuel pump a little, but after we changed it not at all.

We called a shop and they came and got it today. I was just trying to fix it without having to pay much more than what we have put in it.
