Trying to install a Pro Tach x1000

It should go to any of the coil trigger wires ( green, green/white etc). here is a coil wiring diagrams so you can see what I am talking about. be sure to switch the tach to COP mode. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

I assume you are looking for the engine speed/tach wire? If this is the case the color is black/red coming from the PCM to the cluster.
