trunk release not working properly

Hello,

The truck release is operated by cable, so it is mechanical.
Unless something got jammed or broke, you should be able to open the trunk.

On the other issue, the car was in an +400 car underground garage that was flooded last night. I want to go down later and would like to inspect the cabin/trunk for water seepage. When I open the door the courtesy light comes on under normal circumstances. This would involve an electrical current.
Can this be a problem of shorting something?.
Or Should I wait until the car dries out a bit.
Lastly with the flooding(not sure how high the water was yet)I was able to get a peek at car next me and water was at bottom of door. I would say that level was for several hours. Pumping out garage was taking place.
Is it recommended to tow car to shop for inspection? Or wait a few days to try to start.

It will probably be best to tow it out before trying to start and cause any damage to the engine or electrical system. That way you are not taking any chances by trying to start it and have issues.
Was your interior wet?

Yes, that should be okay. Also open the hood and inspect the battery and any water damage. Let me know what you find.

Checked car quickly this morning. Not supposed to be in garage yet. Still 6 inches of water.
There was some water on cabin floor. No water line visible on body. Was not able to check engine compartment yet. Hope to do so later. Dash lights came on when door was opened. Can windows (electric) be rolled down? Not sure if ignition has to be on.

The lights coming on means the battery might not have gotten water in.
To roll down window you will have to turn the key to the "on" (not start) position.
Sounds like it is taking quite a long time for the water to go down.

Okay, just checked the car. The waterline on a nearby wall is a little over half way up the wheel. Engine looks dry. Now I have no juice. Battery dead, I believe. Why from yesterday I do not know. A while back I left the courtesy light and it drained it. I was able to charge it. It's a few years old.

The battery can also drain if there is a short that could have cased by the water as well as leaving a light on.

The light was left on awhile back. Battery was dead after. I charged it and it held the charge.
I am going to try to charge overnight.
Does that sound okay?

Unless there is a bad cell in the battery. You should be able to charge it back up without any issues.
Is the car dry yet or still on water?

There are water puddles around car and there was some water on the floor,front and back of car which I am removing and drying.

If you try to start the engine make sure there are no water under the hood. Especially the air intake area. Also just to be on the safe side check the engine oil. You need to verify that there is no water in it.
Look under the vehicle and see if you can inspect the starter. That need to be dry as well.

Battery took the charge. I rolled down windows and opened sunroof to dry inside. I will wait a couple of days before attempting a start. Now to my other vehicle, motorcycle/vtx 1800. Planning to roll it to an incline to try and drain water that has probably gotten into my pipes.
