Trunk pull-down malfunction

Ken, I have unplugged the lid pull-down actuator so that trunk shuts manually. i do not have the time or money and know how to have the electrical problem fixed or do it myself. My problem now is that when i operate my lights the license plate lamp will work but only when the trunk is open. When i close my trunk the license plate lamp shuts off simultaneously with the trunk lamp. Can i just run a wire from my parking lamp to my license plate lamp to make sure the license plate lamp comes on when headlights come on? Where did you get the diagram pictures from? can you send me a link? Thanks for for time! Carl

It sounds like the wiring where the trunk closes must be broken because the license plate light is tied into the running light circuit (purple wire). here is a wiring diagram so you can see how the system works.
