So, the key that came with the car does not unlock the trunk. There is no button in the glove box. I live out in the county and no one services. I've soaked it with wd-40, I've taken a rubber mallet and lightly banged on the lock with the key in it, and all around the trunk. Could I just drill the lock and pop it with a screwdriver? Tips or videos would be appreciated.

Hi,

Yes, you could drill the tumbler out and turn it with a screwdriver and then replace the lock assembly.

On the other hand, you may be able to access the trunk if you remove the back portion of the rear seat. Have you tried that already?

Let me know.

Yeah, I've removed the back seat, but no crawl space and the spare tire is mounted right in the middle, so I can't get a rod through to manually unlock it.

Other than having a locksmith make you a new key, you will need to drill it out to open the trunk. If you have a chance, let me know how things work out for you.

Take care,

Yeah, I drilled it out which was fast and easy enough. Now trying to get to the locking mechanism below the drilled-out key was a pain and it took a good minute to unlock with a screwdriver.

No hidden gems inside the trunk besides the jack system and original white wall donut tire.
