Truck shuts off and displays a low oil pressure light

My 2004 Expedition is shutting off and displaying a Low Oil Pressure Light. It will always crank right back up but is doing it every mile or so the last time I took it out. I just changed the oil and filter and put engine treatment in it as well. Any suggestions?

Do you hear any knocking or ticking from the engine? If not, I would recommend getting a mechanical oil pressure gauge and checking to see if you have good oil pressure. Chances are you will and the problem will be the oil sending unit. However, I need to be sure before I say to get one and replace it. Also, just so you know, if the computer senses that there is no or very low oil pressure, it will shut the engine down before it can damage itself.

Get the gauge from a parts store. Most will lend or rent them and it just screws into the port that the oil sending unit is located in. Start the engine, and confirm that the pressure is good.
