trouble starting

I have a 1991 Chevy s10 blazer 4x4 and I'm having trouble with starting it...it will start but sometimes die right away and other times it will stay on for a few seconds or I have to keep pumping the gas and sometimes even that won't work but once it stays on it runs fine

I would take a look at your idle air control valve

How should it be adjusted..I'm trying to learn this stuff so I don't have to pay someone else to fix it

Probably should of said it was a carbirated engine...4barrel carburetor

Have you checked for vacuum leaks? Have you checked the fuel filter?

Did you say 4bbl? What has been done to the vehicle? It should be a 4.3L FI

It is a 4.3....but has a 4 barrel carburetor on it ........I personally didn't do anything to it...it was given to me like that...
