I started the car this morning and the engine light was on. I took it to the mechanic and he gave me trouble codes p0011 and p0625. The man said that there was something with the oil and also the alternator. Are these two codes related? What do I have to do to fix it?

Good evening,

The 625 is a charging system issue. I attached the possibilities and a wiring diagram.

Do you have a voltmeter to do some testing?

The 11 is for the actuator solenoid for the timing advance. This usually happens when there is dirty oil and the debris prevent the valve from moving. The oil system needs to be flushed out to see if the code will go away.

I will get a voltmeter.

In the attachment, it says that the battery warning should be on when the P065 occurs. My engine light is on but my battery warning light is not. Is this something to take note of?

Also while reading the attachment it says something about diode testing. This one stuck out to me because it says that if the alternator diode pack is failing and leaking it can cause electrical issues like the radio acting strangely. This is also one of the problems I have been having.

Okay, to confirm, check the charging system with the engine running. It should be 14 to 14.5 volts.

Then change your setting to AC voltage and give me the reading. If you have bad diodes, it will send out AC voltage.
