Transmission symptoms no codes

Hi Mr. Honda,

It is normal for a transmission to spike to full line pressure in between shifts but the harsh engagement should be cushioned by the accumulators so that you have a smooth engagement and you don't feel the effects of higher line pressure.

If this engagement is exceptionally harsh then the decision is based on how far are you willing to go? Once you open the unit to replace/repair the valve body, accumulators and shift solenoids, you should perform an air check on the clutch packs. If you find an issue there then you will need to perform a complete rebuild.

In my opinion, once you need to go into the unit and you are close to 200,000 miles and it has not just been rebuilt, it is always a good idea to just do a complete rebuild or replace the unit. A transmission is not one of those items that you want to try and make band aid repairs once you open it up. It is too much of a hassle and once you change on thing, most likely something else is not going to function the same causing you to go back in because you will not know that until you get it back together and drive it. I have learned this from experience.

Thank you for response. The only thing I can do on it is try try to repair the valve body with a shift kit. And possibly test solenoid pack. I’m not sure if I can do this yet or buy a new pack.
I unfortunately do not have tools or am this mechanically inclined to pull transmission out and rebuild it.

Okay. Doing a valve body and shift kit may not address a harsh engagement. In fact, the shift kit may make it worse. It is probably worth a try but I would count it as a bonus if it addresses any shifting issues.

I tried replying to my previous thread for help from tech KENNY, but I don’t think it’s working.

To update: transmission issues rough going into reverse and 1,2, so on mellows out intermittently.

I wanted to bring something up I thought about from the seller I got this from.
One more thing. The fella that owned this before me swapped in a new motor. He could not get this to fire over because he did not have set timing on harmonic balancer.( hole on balancer points to 6 o' clock). This got me irritated because I’m sure he took the TTY bolt and reused it without proper torque applied and probably off on TDC... Now I need to check when I start on suspension kit...

Would CPS have an affect on the PCM, transmission in causing a hard shift if there is a misalignment at crank pulley?
