Are you saying that it stays in gear and will not shift?
Or that you get to 2000 rpm and the engine loses power?
Is the check engine light on? Does it do this all the time or only when cold or hot?
Please help us help you.

Was hoping you would say it only does it when cold. But it sounds like the solenoid pack is starting to go. The problem is that usually this behavior also indicates that the front band is worn/slipping and the transmission needs to come apart.

I would take it to a transmission shop and have them take a look. It could be just the pressure sensors and solenoid. They are a common issue on that transmission.
