I have the 4t40-e transmission. Sometimes my transmission will shift harder than usual, and sometimes it will shift nice and smooth. I believe the alternator is shot on my car because of other reasons. Could that cause the transmission to sometimes shift rougher? I had read online that someone said usually when the transmission is worn it will always shift rough and not sometimes. Does that make sense?

if the battery is low which may be the result of the bad alternator it can give problems to various modules on the car. have the battery tested including load test. also, have it scanned for codes. however, it may bean internal problem with transmission. See link.
