Hi,

This could be the result of a few things. First, transmission fluid contracts when it is cold. If it is already low, the colder weather may be causing it to drop lower than usable. Have you checked the fluid level and condition?

Next, often times a delayed shift deals with low-line pressure. By any chance, has the check engine light ever been on while the engine is running? If so, have you checked for codes?

Let me know. I just checked to see if there are any technical service bulletins that would be relevant, but there are none.

Let me know.

Infrequently since it has gotten cold, shifting from park to R or D will not happen immediately. After 5 minutes warm up, and restart of the car, then it shifts into gear with no problem.

Hi,

I just responded to a different question related to the delayed shift from park to drive when cold. I saw this and assumed it was for the same vehicle. However, one is a GLK and the other is a CLK. Is this a typo or are we looking at two different vehicles?

Let me know.

Hi,

Okay. I attached a pic below. Which one do you have? There are three different possibilities. I believe there is a way to check the level without going to a dealer.

Let me know.

Interestingly, I found a notice that if the fluid hasn't been changed in 70,000 miles, the filter needs to be changed as well. See pic below.

Also, you are correct with this vehicle. It needs to be checked. I have no idea why this has changed other than someone is trying to make more money.

If you haven't serviced the transmission at this point, it needs to be done.

Let me know.
