Transmission slipping

I bought a new transmission online installed it and it gave me the engine code almost right away. is there something that could be causing this? I had to splice in a new wiring harness that plugs into the transmission. could a wire not connected right be causing this? I could take the transmission out and send it back, but that is a lot of work. if I could do something to figure out the problem it has. I will have the torque converter solenoid changed, if I know that is the problem. any help would be appreciated. also, it seems that when the car sits and I check transmission fluid it shows it is over full, but then when I start it up it sucks it down. I never heard of this. is this normal?

The transmission fluid should be checked with the engine running, at normal operating temp, and in park. if it is low at that point, then it needs fluid. When you shut the engine, the level will raise. It sounds to me like it's low on fluid. What you described above as far as level, is normal. As far as the TCC, it will either feel like a misfire, you'll may hear a chattering, or OD will not engage.

High gear is only time,I notice the problem but it does go in it it's almost like it can't decide if it wants to downshift or not

I am not sure why you had to splice wiring, but if the transmission is not the same as the old one, that can cause problems. As far as the fluid level, were you checking it correctly?
