Hi,

When it doesn't start, does the gear indicator show park? It could simply be a linkage issue or the sensor that you mentioned.

If you look at the first pic below, it explains how to adjust the shift cable. So, if it doesn't indicate park but instead shows reverse, try this first.

The remaining pics are the removal and replacement of the transmission range sensor. To access the range sensor, the transmission pan and valve body will need to be removed.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe

Okay. If the indicator is showing park, it sounds like the range sensor could have an internal fault. If you take it from park when this happens and shift through the gears and back to park, will it start? Based on what you are telling me, chances are it is the sensor.

Let me know if I can help in any way.

Take care,

Joe

Hi Tiffany, I just responded to the other post for replacement. LOL As far as a range sensor, the first indicators are usually the gear indicators are not operating or not correct. I mentioned in the post that if it doesn't show a P when in park and there are no lights on, the sensor is likely the cause. However, if it shows R (reverse) when you place it in park, it could be something as simple as adjusting the shift cable. I did indicate how on the other post as well.

Other symptoms can include the vehicle not starting, not shifting into the correct gear, the vehicle driving in what is called limp mode, and so on.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe

Good afternoon,

Yes, that is a definite possibility for this issue.

I attached the procedure with some pictures below for you. The switch is inside the transmission. The valve body has to be removed to gain access.

Hi Tiffany,

If you run into trouble with the range sensor, let me know. Also, if possible, let me know how things turn out for you.

Take care,
