Transmission will not shift into reverse, but it will shift into drive?

When you shift the car in reverse do the reverse lights go on? If not, then the gear range sensor has gone out. Also, we should run the codes to see what comes up. here is a guide to help and the location of the gear range sensor so you can check it out:
