Transmission Over Temp message

2006 JEEP COMMANDER
83,000 MILES • 5.7L • V8 • 4WD • AUTOMATIC

Quick note: the transmission oil with filters were replaced 8 months ago with recommended ATF+4 trans fluid.

Only while idling in Drive the message Transmission Over Temp appears with fans turning on but switching to neutral gear while at the lights or a drive-thru the 'Transmission Over Temp' nor fans do not come on.

After reading similar issues, I understand this may be due to either the battery or starter wires and of course, a transmission temperature sensor issue? thank you in advance.

More then likely you have some codes to go along with this. Let's check for codes and go from there.

I attached the info about when and why this light comes on. If there are no codes then most likely the transmission is getting too hot.

Just yesterday morning I went to start the car and the battery was dead. I took it to get charged at a AutoZone and was told it was a bad battery. after buying and installing a new battery and driving until operating temperature I noticed the transmission over temperature signal never came on. it seems the problem is no more. thank you for the info!

Okay. It is not common but when the battery voltage is low it starts giving these types of random messages.
