Most of these are related to valve body electrical problems, shift valve, converter lock up clutch check and clean all terminals in the harness plug at the transmission and make sure that this plus is tight see if that improves matters.

It sounds like you have a shift solenoid that is not working. I would test through the winding's to see if there is continuity. Also, check the four fuses that run the system. You can see which ones from the diagram below.

Here is a guide to help us get started:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-use-a-voltmeter

Also, there is a ranger selector switch I would test as well.

Here is the transmission wiring diagrams so you can get started.

Check out the diagrams (below).

Please let us know what happens.

Cheers, Ken

It is beginning to sounds like you have an internal lip seal or clutch pack that is going out. It might be time for a rebuild.

Did you do the rebuild yourself? Seems like a valve is missing from the area mentioned.

O man, that can cause the issue for sure. I would replace the sensor here is a guide to help show you what you are in for when doing the job.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/coolant-temperature-sensor-cts-replacement

Here is the location.

Please run down this guide and report back

initaly it was 1st to second gear that is not the TTC solenoid, the trouble is i have no idea as to what you have been doing with the transmission, i can only work on the codes and symptoms, you now need to check that he TTC is powering up and activating at the correct time.
