My car is stuck in second gear. I can shift it just fine between park, reverse, and neutral. When I put it in drive it stays in second. I can even shift it to 1st gear and it drives but its still in second. Some other things are leading me to believe that maybe there is a loose connection or bad connection. The left blinker is glitchy. My speedometer will stop working while im driving down the street, the display that tells you what gear your in (park, reverse, etc...) only works after I start the car, then after about ten seconds, everything lights up. Not sure if that has anything to do with the shifting issues but like i said, its leading me to believe that something electrical maybe? Obviously I dont know, or I wouldnt be asking on here. Lol. No money to go to a shop so I will be attempting to fix whatever the problem may be by myself so as much detail as you can give me would be great.

This could be electrical and it could be that your transmission is going out. What size engine do you have?

This could be as simple as a speed sensor but I'm going to need a little more information.

Also, do you have any check engine lights on, and if you do what are the codes?

Engine size is the 2.7 L. The check engine light is on but when hooked up to the code reader it just tells me that my coolant sensor is bad. It drives fine just that it doesnt shift.

I would first check out the speed sensor. With this being out it sounds like this is causing all the problems, hopefully. It is a lot cheaper replacing a speed sensor then a transmission.
