Transmission fluid leak

Had a overheating problem with my radiator and it resulted in a blown head gasket. This also overheated my transmission and the transmission fluid all leaked out somewhere. I have no idea where it all went but is this another separate issue with the teansmission that I am going to have to deal with?

Hello, I'm Danny.

Basically most of your vehicles cooling is done through the radiator. When you have a blown head gasket issue what happens is the engines motor oil begins to mix with the engine coolant.This will contaminate both the engine crankcase and radiator with both the oil and coolant together. At the very bottom of the radiator a small portion of a separate area is used as the transmission cooler. If damage or breakage occurs now you will have transmission fluid added to the mix. If the radiator has been replaced I would suggest having the transmission flushed to make sure no coolant remains in the transmission and replace with fresh transmission fluid.Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.

This is most likely another issue depending on where the leak is coming from. If you are replacing the radiator then you may fix the issue if the transmission cooler is leaking. The cooler is part of the radiator so if you replace it then you will get a new cooler as well.
