Is dex/merc compatible with atf +4?

Hi Jessie,
The oil manufacturer says they are compatible but Chrysler says nothing but ATF +4. I have found that when you mix them or replace with dex/merc it shifts firmer. I don't really like that so I would stick with what the OEM recommends. I understand it is a little more expensive but they designed it to use that fluid not any other.
If it were me, I would stick with what they recommend.
