This is a old state trooper car. If I accelerate to fast the transmission will disengage until I slow down to about 15 to 20 miles per hour and then it will reengage and I can continue with the trip. I believe it is electrical.
Have any thoughts on this?

Hi,

Have you checked to make sure the transmission fluid is clean and full? This vehicle should have a transmission dipstick to check.

With the engine at operating temp and the vehicle on a level surface, start the engine and allow it to idle in park. Check the fluid level while it is running.

_______________

Next, if it is an electrical issue, there should be a diagnostic trouble code stored. Here is a quick video showing how to scan the computer for codes:

I realize most people don't own a scanner, but often times a parts store will do it free of charge. I recommend having that done.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care,
Joe
