I started my vehicle went to put it in reverse and started rolling back. A loud clunking and banging noise happened. I instantly put it in park turned it off. I then proceeded to check under the truck and around the vehicle everything seemed okay. I turned it back over. No disheartening noise.
Then put it into reverse everything was fine. Drove for about 15 minutes everything is okay. But I did notice it is slowly leaking transmission fluid.

Good morning,

I would suspect the driveshaft universal joints maybe the noise if they are worn out and not lubricated.

When they get tight or seized, they could make this noise. I would get them checked to be sure that they do not fail and leave you stranded.

As far as the leak, how low has the fluid level gone? There are so many places it could leak from and it needs to be checked to determine the source of the leak.

Morning. I appreciate you this so much. So I can't exactly tell where the leak is exactly located. It kinda looks like where the transmission mates to the engine. My transmission oil seems to be okay. I forgot to mention that for some reason my oil gauge wasn't reading then for some reason decided to read again during the first 2 minutes or so.

I will. it just dawned on me. But I did throw a code and its because my evap filter went bad on it. I doubt it is that but do you think that could be related?

No, there is no connection to the issue at hand.

That is a separate system.

Figured. I had someone look at it. He says that it is the transfer-case. Which I can see it being that bit the dude was a little sketchy. There is play between the axle and transfer-case.

The oil leak is on the driver's side by the oil filter. Look up and see if it is coming down from the top.

Go to the top of the motor and see if you can see if it is leaking from the valve cover.

You will need to clean off the motor both top and bottom of all oil.

Then get an oil dye at a parts store and add it to the oil.

Run the car a few days and then check for the leak. Use a bright LED light to find the source of the leak.

Alright appreciate it. And as far as the engine sound it doesn't sound like a lifter tick to you? I'm eventually going to take it in but it's my daily and I'm trying to save up as much as possible.

Yes, it does.

I am only supposed to deal with one issue per question. These are the site rules.

If you want to start a brand new question from the beginning, I will be glad to help you with the noise.
