not showing gear the transmission is in gear on the dash?

First, this vehicle isn't offered in the US, so I don't have the specifics. However, I will try my best to help.

In 2007, Mitsubishi used a transmission range sensor for gear selection. It is part of the solenoid module, which is mounted to the top of the valve body inside the transmission.

The Transmission Range Sensor communicates shift lever position to the TCM as a combination of open and closed switches. Each shift lever position has an assigned combination of switch states (open/closed) that the TCM receives from four sense circuits. The TCM interprets this information and determines the appropriate transmission gear position and shift schedule.

If you are not getting an indicator and the transmission is only in 3rd gear, first make sure the shift linkage is properly connected and not in need of adjustment or repair. If it is working properly, suspect an issue with the range sensor.

I don't have specifics for your vehicle, but I do have them for other Mitsubishi models. I'm not sure which would be closest to your truck. I suspect the sensor has failed.

I attached a pic below of the sensor from a Mitsubishi Raider which I feel is close to what you have. Note: That is with the valve body removed from the transmission.
