Transmission cracked after being dropped

When pulling the transmission that I purchased out of another car, they said it dropped on the ground and Cracked the Outer Case.

I was told that the area where the damage is does not affect the functioning of the transmission.

They also said that the bell housing isn’t removable but where it’s broken doesn’t affect the use of the transmission. In the pictures, they circled where it’s broken.

Please let me know if I am being told the truth, or should I get my money back?
