I changed the transmission in my truck. It is a five speed manual. Before that the other transmission locked up on me. Well I kept the slave cylinder that was originally on the truck. Since changing the transmission,clutch fluid leaks from between TR the engine and transmission. When truck is started it sounds like something is being thrown around the bell housing of the transmission. Could I have a broken pilot bearing that could be causing all this? When I pulled transmission before changing it, there was a piece of gold/ bronze color shavings and small pieces all around the bell housing. I thought it was pieces of gears that stripped or something. Pilot bearing,slave cylinder or transmission problems?

You are going to need to pull the transmission and see what is going on. It should be pretty easy to see what is going on once the transmission is pulled If there is that much noise.

I felt around inside the bell housing. i can feel something that feels like it is a piece of metal, but I cannot reach it. when I pulled the transmission out of a truck at a junkyard the pilot bearing inside came out slow with the transmission, but it was in pieces. This transmission is different. I think last one may have busted the pilot bearing. i will pull it tomorrow morning and find out more.

You never put a new clutch kit in with the transmission replacement? I would have while i was in there.

The fork that holds the throw out bearing in place came loose. Also the clips that hold the bearing on the input shaft got bent. I did straighten it out somewhat. Can the fork be reused? It was not installed correctly.

As long as the fork was not damaged you should be okay. Did you get the kit with the throw out bearing clutch disc pressure plate pilot bearing and clutch alignment tool? Also I always put a turned flywheel back in you can get them pretty cheap or have yours turned.

The fork that holds throw out bearing in place got bent. I straightened it out the best I could. It is made like the bearing goes into a big end then slides over to a smaller end. Like a curtain rod mount. Can it be reused or does it need to be replaced? And clutch fluid leaks from between the engine and transmission. Slave cylinder has never given me any problems until now. Boot is not busted or anything. But fluid still leaks.

If everything fits and works like its supposed to then I would say you can reuse it. If it does not then just replace it if your not sure replace it. better to be safe then sorry. As far as the leak goes if the slave cylinder is leaking replace it. It could have been damaged by what happened.

A friend who owns a transmission shop told me after looking at the fork, it will never hold the throw out bearing in place. The fingers are so worn. So j will order one from a dealer tomorrow for 75$. Thanks a lot for your help

I changed slave cylinder. The leak stopped. Now it's making a rubbing sound. Like metal on metal. And I tried to bleed the clutch but it's a hard pedal when it gets to bottom of pedal. What is going on?

Iam sure what you mean by its a hard pedal when you get to the bottom of the pedal?so why won't it bleed?maybe the clutch master is bad also?As far as the noise goes that's a tough one I can't hear it or where it's coming from.Everything is good and assembled correctly?

Everything is assembled correctly. Yes the clutch pedal is hard when it gets close to the floor. I never had problems with anything until I changed the transmission. Now it seems like everything is going wrong. The clutch fork may have came loose again. I installed it til it was all the way on. Snapped on I mean with the clips made for it.

If the clutch fork is out of place it will effect the pedal and could explain the noise.

It appears the clutch fork came loose again. I installed it the way that was shown to me. There is no springs holding it in place. I have to take things apart to place fork right. This is the third time this has happened to me. The fork is new from a dealer. Throw out bearing is the same as what has been on truck. It spins freely like it's supposed to but just the clips that hold it in its place keeps coming loose. What causes this?

If the fork is moving out of place of course the throw out bearing is going to come out of the fork.Most of the time there is a clip the holds the end of the fork on the ball on the transmission.

Yes there is a ball that holds the fork in place. That's what keeps coming loose. I clipped it on Luke it supposed to be. Or at least I'm pretty sure it's clipped on correctly. It keeps coming loose tho. I can't figure out what's going on with it. Is the throw out bearing in picture installed correctly?

It's hard to tell in that picture do you have the large part of the bearing going against the pressure plate?

No. The large part of throw out bearing is towards the transmission/truck. The large part of bearing is on the inside of clutch fork

So you have the side facing up in the picture sitting against the pressure plate?if so there's your problem.
