Transmission issues shifting shift out of first to second, codes P0700 and P0842

Car isn't wanting to shift out of first to second (around 15 to 20 mph) in drive, but I can shift it to third manually and then into drive at 40 mph.

And when it tries to shift to second it just goes in and out rapidly about a quarter of a second in each direction until it slows down enough to be in first.

Just wanting to know what it is or an idea what it is. Or to clarify if it is the "TPS" or not.

And it did send the P0700 and P0842 codes which the first I think just goes with second.

Good morning,

Yes, the TPS does control shift points but if it was an issue, then it would have set a code.

You need a scan tool to monitor the voltage of the TPS when pushing the pedal down and up.

I would start by changing the fluid and filter in the transmission. the filter may be partially clogged.

And I forgot to mention that I changed the transmission filter prior to posting the question.
And before, when it was put into Drive or second it would just die (stall, nomo big bada booms.... whatever you wanna call it) which was the reason I changed the fluid So I can tell how much fluid is in it [as I couldn't check the fluid since you need to go through the gears.] And I had to fix the negative battery terminal which erased the codes. And I haven't tried driving it until it throws them again.

Like a solenoid, valve body, or something that would probably be better off just getting another transmission. Like a clog, seal, band, or maybe something with the torque converter?

I think a good used transmission would be the best way to repair it.
