Transmission will not go into drive

My car just started messing up about a week ago. I can put it in reverse perfectly fine but when I go to put it in drive it will not go. Sometimes it will go into drive and then sometimes it will go into first. It will not go into drive a lot of the time.

have a tran sguy check this, check fluid first if you can but it may be internal damage on trans causing this. try sticking in 1 then manually shift to 2 drive etc. if it works that way then it's going to need an overhaul. if not it will probably need an overhaul anyhow
