Transmission leak, engine revs up but can't accelerate over 40 MPH. I am wanting to know if it would help to get a transmission flush and fix the leak instead of having to buy a new transmission at this moment?

Hello, I'm Danny.

Unfortunately, it's a little too late for a flush to cure the slippage. Once the transmission is burnt it's too late. What happens is once it because burnt the majority of the friction material from the transmission becomes suspended in the old, dirty, burnt transmission fluid. Once the transmission fluid is replaced with new, fresh fluid all the friction material is then gone. Usually within a month the transmission will slip even worse or fail altogether. Sorry for the bad news but at this point your car will require a new or rebuilt transmission. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.
