I have been having problems with my car I was not sure what it was. I decided to remove the CV axles and check them. When I removed the right side (passenger side) transmission fluid started to pour out of the transmission, is this right? I do not think that that is supposed to happen. Can anyone tell me what my problem is and how to fix it? I am replacing the right side half shaft.

fluid leakage from transmission when axle is removed is normal. if it is a transmission problem have a transmission professional look at it. if you are replacing axle, see picture. install is pretty much reverse of removal.

Thanks that is good to hear. I have done a lot of work on that part of the car and have accidentally pulled the axle out of the transmission before and only a small amount of fluid leaked out. This time there was about a quart. I will do the other side next weekend.
