Transmission swap

So I have a 1993 Chevrolet with a 4L60E and the transmission went out so I took a transmission out of the truck that I described above the only issue was that it was cable shift and electronic shift for overdrive so I had to get a floor board shifter in order to shift it and now the only issue is it won’t go into overdrive, so I was curious if you could show me a wiring diagram for the connectors on the drivers side of the transmission so I can see if I could wire up a toggle switch for overdrive?

Good afternoon,

I attached a wire diagram of the solenoid for the TCC. The tan/black wire highlighted from the internal harness goes to the engine PCM for grounding to allow overdrive or converter lock up.

I noticed there was a wire that was also highlighted (pink) I was curious if it needed power or if I don’t need to mess with it and if not could I just ground out the tan/black wire and it would shift into overdrive when it needs too or if I would have to use a toggle switch whenever I wanted it to shift into overdrive? Thank you so much this was very helpful.

In the second diagram, there is one wire from the fuse block. That is for power to the solenoid. The other wire is the ground to the PCM. That would be the one you would use your switch for the ground to energize the solenoid.

So I hooked up power to the pink wire and I ran a ground to the tan/black wire with a switch and it still won’t go into overdrive. I also checked my wiring with a tester and everything is good. any help?

Okay, then the most likely the converter clutches are worn out and it will not work.

You will need to remove the transmission, replace the converter and go through the valve body and make sure the valves are moving correctly.
