On my 2003 Silverado I have a 4l60e transmission and I when I am going from first to second gears it is pretty sluggish and when it finally shifts it is a little jerky. Every other shift is good and smooth except the first and second and sometimes it does it downshifting up a hill, but it is funny because when I have a load on the bed my first and second shift is not as sluggish and does not jerk? I just wanted a few possible opinions and what it could be. I do not want to start something if it is not worth it.

have a transmission specialist check this, it may be a clutch pak seal or low pressure. If it has the button for towing, then it may be the transmission is not getting enough pressure for that.
