The simple answer is yes.
Okay, I suggest you get one from a 1996 or 1997. The reason is the older ones worked with OBD1 and 96 and up are OBD2.
The key is the connector from the body. It must match up perfectly with the donor transmission. If it does not, it will not work. there is no adapting the harness to an different version.
I attached the connector for the body and the transmission for the 2000..
They must be the same as this diagram on the donor.
