Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.com.

With today's cars, that really is not something that can be done because computers operate everything. If you replace it with a different type, you will not be able to hook up sensors and even if you could, the computer would not recognize the new transmission.

Wish I had a better answer, but that how it is anymore.

Let me know if you need help with anything.

Take care,
Joe

Actually it's possible to swap out a junk m75 dbt for an AF23 trans from a 2004 Saturn ion sedan if you change the axles, the engine wiring harness, and the shift cable. Call Mammorh salvage in Lorain Ohio at 18773220328 and ask for Aaron, hell set you up with the whole changeover kit for the same price as the junk cvt and give you a 6 month warranty. Hes done hundreds if changeovers successfully. It cost me $240 to ship it Idaho but believe me....its worth it as I wasted $1000 on a junkyard m75 dbt which blew up after the 30 day warranty expired and then installed another junk m75 which I got my money back for. I was ready to scrap the vehicle when I stumbled into Aaron. Good luck.

F.Y.I... the af23 is a 5 speed automatic with clutch packs and is as bulletproof as any other similar 4 or 5 speed trans. On the market. Also..it can be rebuilt unlike the m75 cvt which you can't find new replacement parts for.

Hello, I'm Danny.

Thanks for passing along that information. however, that post was a year old so he might have repaired or scrapped the car. Thanks for using 2CarPros with your help.

I replied knowing it was posted long ago so nobody else would waste time and money replacing junk CVT transmissions for $1,000.00 a piece. So if someone ever asks that question in the future.
