I took my car the dealership and questioned about the smoke coming from my vents when I turn on the heater...they claimed not to be able to repeat the same scenario? But my main problem is that I noticed that my car was overheating. Checked the coolant (very low) and filled it up. Will the overheating end after that? Or will it take a few days for the coolant to work itself into the radiator. Also should I check the water levels? I know, blonde and female...oh brother!

Hi there,

You will have to get the cooling system pressure tested to determine the cause of the coolant loss, this will locate any external leaks, The coolant will flow through all the cooling system straight away, you will have to run the car with the heater on so any air trapped there can bleed out, with the run the engine with the radiator cap off and wait till it warms up,when the thermostat opens you may see a loss off coolant just turn it off and top it up, replace the cap and re check cold the next day, if you still have a coolant problem you may need to get the engine tested for internal leaks as well.
