I have a 1992 toyota tercel that i just bought, the car runs but hesitates a little during acceleration. At idle it runs rough wanting to turn off there is no check engine light on i asked the previous owner if he had replaced the timing belt recently and he told me he never had replaced it at all. Could this be the problem or can it be a faulty oxygen sensor. Regardless i am going to replace the timing belt but just wanted to know if i should replace anything else while it is at the mechanics shop?

Lack of acceleration, chugging, hesitating, bogging etc. could be caused by one of the following below.

Inspect and test all the following listed below and get back with some results

Oxygen sensor.
Catalytic converter.
Fuel injectors dirty/sticking.
Mass airflow sensor/Airflow meter.
Throttle position sensor.
Manifold absolute pressure sensor.
EGR Valve
Fuel pressure regulator leaking or defective fuel pump.
False air leakage.
Fuel contamination.
Foul/defective spark plugs.
Open spark plug wires.
Ignition coil/Coil packs defective.
Incorrect ignition timing.
Cap and rotor.

Note:If it doesn't apply disregard.
