My mechanic says my air con pressure is too high about 270. He recommends replacing thermostat with a lower temp sensor and possibly servicing or replacing fan or fan clutch. He replaced the condensor last year. Is this a decent strategy?

No this don't sound right. I wouldn't change the thermostat (lower temp will give lower MPG) or the clutch fan at this point. If the low side is reading about right and the high side is at 270 then there is a blockage in the system. I would be looking at the expansion valve as this is the orfice for the system. Start there and see what you find. Get back to me with what you find here.

Hi
Fan clutch replacement is good idea then thermostat maybe if coolant temp up but maybe radiator needs flushing. What is low side reading? Spray condensor with water head pressure drop?
Let me know
Thanks for donate
