1997 Toyota Supra Front Wheel Drive

Hey I was wondering if a Toyota Supera (97) would absolutely need premium gas because that's what manufactures says. How would using regular affect a) the superchargers and b) the gas mileage? would i save money buy using lower octane fuel or would putting the premium in increase my mileage enough to make it worth it? thanks a ton!

Lower octaine rated fuel does not burn as hot as the higher grade fuel. This will cause a a build up of carbon that will affect the EGR system, the supercharger and my cause a knock or ping from the engine.

I know how you feel, I had a 96 Cadillac Deville that also required premium. What I did was run premium 1/2 the time and 87 octaine with a good quality fuel injector cleaner the other 1/2 of the time. This worked fine for a while but did notice that my fuel ecomomy did suffered with the 87 octaine fuel. My EGR system also had a carborn build up to the point I had to remove and clean the EGR valve. This was over a 3 year period so it won't happen over night.

Just some information for you, hope it helps. Let me know.
