Sorry it's either

1) brake lights are stuck on

or

2) parking lights are stuck on and brake lights don't work.

... I'm leaning toward #1 because of the middle light in the hatch being on also. I believe middle lights are thrid brake lights and are not used as parking lights.

Why brake lights be stuck on?

Hello - Okay, we need to be sure so you are not searching for the wrong item. If the middle brake light is also on, and, brake lights are brighter than parking lights....then I would say your brake light switch is bad. Check the switch at the brake pedal.....see if it is stuck in. You can also unplug it and see if they go out.

Once you check this and see it is bad, all you have to do is replace it.

As far asi can see up the brake pedal is a little red button that touches the stalk, when the break is pressed down is stops touching. Is this the sensor. If it is it moves fine, where do is unplug? From the back of it?

Hello –

I would think that is the switch. Just because it moves doesn’t mean it is okay…the button could be stuck in a little, it could be internally bad. You will have to unplug it and then see if the lights go out….then jump the plug and see if they come on. If so the switch is bad.
