1999 Toyota Solara leakey stuff

1999 Toyota Solara 6 cyl 160000 miles

there is oil leaking I think from my enginge? Someone told me it needed a new gasket. How much would that cosst with labor?

Hi there,

I do need to know where the leak is coming from as there is a number of places with varying costs involved.

Thank you for VERY promt reply. Seems that th leak is coming from where the front of the engine where is screwed together. It is the SLE V6 so there is like a fold there in the frnt and it seems a bit of oil is lining where that fold is.

HI there,

Well we have a small problem, i am in Australia and i use an American data base for the work here, now i just looked up Solara and it has nothing on it, so may be its called something else? what i a m thinking is that the leak is coming from the sump or the timing case cover, these are at the point of the engine that you have described, i am at a bit of a loss, for more information.but i will keep looking,

Really apprecate your help a friend of mine who works on imports was telling me to start thre as well. The only other thing I know about the car is that sometimes overseas they call it "Camry Solara SLEV6" but you probably already now that so even if this is as far as you cen help I really appreciate you. Of course any other advice would be cool too!

HI there,

That pic is the rocker cover, they do leak often and may be the point of your problem, the front one is fairly easy to replace, but the inlet manifold must be removed to access the rear one, this will be a job for your mechanic,

Thanks again for all of your help that matches with what I was hearing from alot of my frieds too. At least I know where to start now instead of showing up at the mechanic and bending over!
