As I was replacing the fuse in an aftermarket DVD player, something grounded out. I checked all fuses and they are good. When I turn the key, I hear the engine fan, but no dash lights and the engine will not start. Lights, horn, AC/Heat works, and battery is good. I also noticed when I turn the key to start, that the L.E.D. clock display goes out and comes back on when I turn the key to the off position.

Used a fuse tester and all were good. It's as if something must be grounding out when I turn the key from ACC to START. The L.E.D. Clock goes out and comes back on when I release from START. I noticed the clock now has a different time on it.

I checked the fuses under the dash and under the hood. Flashers, turn signals, headlights, dome lights, all work. The instrument panel lights that usually come on when the key is turned do not come on and are not on when I turn the headlamps on.

Hi BamaChris,

I would suggest checking the power supply to the ignition switch. After switch is turned on, test output of switch.

This is to eliminate the possibility of a faulty ignition switch.

When ignition switch is turned to START, power to the accessories are cut and that would describe why the clock LED display disappears. Does the different time occur each time you try to crank the engine?
